Hi, my name is Pamela and I am a writer/poet who also masquerades as a full time work at home mom. I love both my unpaid jobs, but if anyone wants to pay for the first one, let me know!
I occasionally write for Good Shepherds Good Town Good Newspaper; aside from feature articles, the summer 2011 edition featured a page of my poetry. My poem Shell to My Ear was published in the 2011 Anthology for Appalachian Writers, Bobbie Ann Mason edition.
I started writing poetry at the age of 15, and have only recently sought publication. I hope to find more time to do this! I entered my undergraduate years at Michigan State University as a journalism major, but eventually switched to Psychology. I have a B.A. in Psychology and and M.S.Ed in Psychological Services in Education. I love writing and observing people and life!
I have been married for over a decade to my wonderful husband, M, and we have a beautiful daughter, V, who is often the subject of both my prose and poetry writing!
Besides writing, I love to read (mostly mysteries, 18th century women’s literature, and child development books). You can find reviews and book lists under the book category on the home page.
I also really value a good education; I’m considering homeschooling my daughter and we engage in lots of learning activities and art projects in and outside of our home. Some of these, I share in my Toddler Friendly Activities category.
I named this blog The Ripple Effect 2009 because I believe in the power of the written word. Every voice is like a ripple in a body of water; you may start out with a small ripple that generates more and more activity as it gains momentum. Writing is very important to me and I want to share it with whoever is willing and interested in listening. (Incidentally, the 2009 refers to the year my daughter, V, was born, the most amazing ripple in my emotional and creative life in more ways than I could ever have imagined!) I enjoy conversation and constructive sharing of thoughts and ideas; I would love to hear your thoughts, so please subscribe and comment! Like the site on Facebook, Tweet a post…please, anything helps:)! If you would like to contact me regarding a post, you may do so at email@example.com. Thanks for reading and welcome to The Ripple Effect 2009!
